Moving in

The Great Room

The Great Room is located on the upper floor. The vaulted ceiling and stained glass windows make this room an inviting area to gather as a family. The west side of the great room has a fireplace, a baby grand piano, a television and a comfy sitting area, and the east side has a dining area and an open concept kitchen where volunteers prepare meals for residents.

Resident Room

Each of the 19 private rooms at the Kensington Hospice has been designed to provide a home-like environment with a comforting atmosphere. Every room is equipped with an electric bed, a bedside table, a dresser and a chair that converts into a single bed. A television, a clock radio, Bluetooth speakers, a fan, a heater and a telephone are available in each room. A full bathroom is shared with the resident in the room next to yours.

Personalizing your room

Once you have been accepted to the Kensington Hospice, you will likely be able to move in as soon as space becomes available. There are a few items to bring with you to help personalize your room and make it feel like home:

* Pillows and a quilt or comforter

* Pajamas, housecoat and slippers

* Family photos

* Grooming products

* Stuffed animals

* Holiday decorations

Living room

The living room is located on the main floor as you enter the Kensington Hospice. This is a room where you can sit with family, listen to music, or read a book. Feel free to have a drink or snack while you sit and spend time together.

Family room

The family room is located on the lower level, toward the west end of the hospice. This space can be used for quiet family gatherings, meetings and discussions with your care team. The family room can be a place where you take a quick break, or where you can catch a few moments of quiet between visits.
