On Monday, April 8, a total solar eclipse will cross North America. A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, completely blocking out the Sun and causing the sky to become dark, as if it were nighttime. This will be the last visible total solar eclipse until 2044!
You may have heard that you shouldn’t look at the sun during an eclipse, but do you know why? We’ve created a helpful Q&A video featuring Dr. Kertes, Ophthalmologist-in-Chief at Kensington Health, to explain the science behind why it’s so important to protect your eyes during the eclipse.
