Preparing for your visit

In response to COVID-19, we have made a few changes to how we operate. Rest assured, we are committed to providing our patients and staff with a safe environment while at Kensington. We have implemented a one-way patient flow, plastic barriers and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), physical distancing protocols and stringent cleaning processes.

Please see below some of the other changes to our policies at Kensington that are being taken to keep everyone safe.

Appointment scheduling

We are currently operating by appointment only. Appointments must be scheduled by phone or referring doctors.

In order to maintain social distancing protocols within the clinic, we will not take patient bookings in-person, or walk-in procedures.

Screening

You will be screened for COVID-19 when you book your appointment, and then again when you arrive.

The Kensington screening station is in the lobby, and our screeners will take your temperature with a thermometer and ask you a series of questions. If you refuse or do not pass screening, you will not be able to go to your appointment and must reschedule by telephone.

You must wear a mask

Everyone in the building, including patients, must wear masks at all times. We ask that you put on your mask before entering the building. Cloth and home-made masks are acceptable. Failure to comply will result in appointment cancellation.

Appointment arrival

Please arrive no more than 15 minutes before your appointment in order to be screened in the lobby. There will also be a longer than usual waiting time to use the elevators as only three people are allowed to use them at any given time.

Please note, if you arrive more than 15 minutes prior to your appointments, you will be asked to return to your car until 15 minutes before your appointment. Patients will not be seen earlier than their appointment time. There is no lobby seating at 340 College St. and patients are not permitted to wait outside of clinic doors.

Procedure time

All procedure times have increased in order to support physical distancing, enhanced cleaning and PPE changes.

Self-isolate

You must self-isolate for two weeks before coming in for surgery.

Bringing someone to your appointment

If you arrive with friends or family, they will not be able to accompany you upstairs to your appointment.

Exceptions will be made for the following circumstances:

  • If the patient is under 16 years of age
  • If the patient has a cognitive impairment
  • If the patient has translation needs
  • If the patient has mobility issues

Friends or family accompanying the patient must past screening and is allowed to remain in the clinic, but must remain in the change room until the patient’s procedure is finished. If they leave, they cannot return.

Payments

Credit and debit payments are the only method of payment in order to minimize contact.

Gloves

Do not wear disposable gloves as they provide a false sense of security and need to be sanitized with hand sanitizer. The hand sanitizer erodes the plastic, rendering plastic gloves useless.
