Our history

Deeply rooted in the Kensington community

Over the past 20 years, the Foundation has supported Kensington Health in expanding its impact on the lives of families in our community.  Previously known as The Doctors Hospital Foundation, The Kensington Health Foundation has always maintained a core connection to the values of accessibility and the local community.

At the heart of The Doctors Hospital care philosophy was a promise to accommodate as many of the cultures in the community as possible, providing a multi-faith and ethnic-appropriate approach to patient care, while being an innovative, leading-edge provider of modern health care services on a not-for-profit basis, boasting that it was the hospital "where more than 40 languages are spoken".

With the change to become Kensington Health Centre in 1998, that connection was perhaps made more pronounced, tying its name to the history of the district it served and the multiplicity of populations the neighbourhood welcomed. Today Kensington Health proudly continues that legacy, serving the local multi-ethnic community offering services in multiple languages to our community of patients, residents, families and caregivers.
