Our history
Meeting the needs of our community
Kensington Vision and Research Centre, an extension of the Kensington Eye Institute, was formed to provide diagnostic and clinical eye services to the community.
Integrating I.T. and healthcare
Kensington Vision and Research Centre continued to grow adding more eye care services, such as teleophthalmology (eye care through digital medical equipment and telecommunications technology).
Innovation in eye care
Kensington Eye Institute began to offer several important services:
- Electrophysiology (Prior to this, patients were required to travel to London or Ottawa for this service)
- PROSE lens therapy (The first of its kind in Canada)
Continuous growth
To accommodate the need for increased access to eye services in the community, as well as a growing need for an Urgent Eye Care Centre, Kensington Health opened an expansion of the eye clinic on the first floor of 340 College St.
Looking towards the future
Today, Kensington Vision and Research Centre accommodates nearly 25,000 clinic visits per year. We will continue to grow with our community to support eye health needs in our province to achieve the best possible eye health by facilitating clear pathways to care.
