The Toronto Ophthalmic Training Centre (TOTC) located at the Kensington Vision & Research Centre in downtown Toronto is accepting applications for our Ophthalmic Technician and Ophthalmic Medical Technologist programs. Be part of the next generation of eye care professionals! 

About the programs: 

We offer a rigorous 10-month Ophthalmic Technician Program, and graduates can opt to further expand their skills by completing the advanced, 10-month Ophthalmic Medical Technologist Program. Students finish our programs equipped with the knowledge and skills they need to seamlessly enter the eye care workforce!  

TOTC programs offer a unique opportunity to sharpen your ophthalmic skills through independent, hands-on experience and learning. Interactive online lectures are provided by technologists and physicians weekly, and students also spend time at our clinic, receiving immersive, hands-on training in the clinical and diagnostic units, including supervised patient interactions. Students also have the opportunity to participate in the University of Toronto’s Department of Ophthalmology grand rounds and attend exciting industry conferences.  

The TOTC holds membership in the International Council of Accreditation and is endorsed by the International Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (IJCAHPO). Upon completion of our program, graduates are eligible to apply for the IJCAHPO’s OT and OMT certification exams. Certification enables graduates to pursue career opportunities internationally.
