It’s not your typical comedy night – and that’s exactly the point.
Die Laughing was a one-night-only stand-up show where older adults from Second Mile Club at Kensington Health stepped into the spotlight to try comedy for the very first time. Held at Comedy Bar Danforth and developed by Mammalian Diving Reflex, the show is about much more than punchlines. It’s about showing the world that it’s never too late to try something new – even if it scares you.
Recent media coverage from CBC News and Toronto Star has put this unforgettable evening in the spotlight, amplifying the voices of performers who are proving that growing older doesn’t mean fading into the background – it can mean finding brand new ways to shine.

Why It Matters
Die Laughing is more than a show – it’s a celebration of everything community care can be when it’s done right.
The stars of the show are all members of the Second Mile Club at Kensington Health, which has supported older adults and adults living with disabilities across Toronto for more than 80 years. From in-home supports and caregiver resources to drop-in centres and day hospice programs, Second Mile Club at Kensington Health is a space where people come to feel supported, stay social, and stay involved in their communities.
At its heart, Second Mile Club at Kensington Health exists to help people live independently, with dignity, for as long as possible – and Die Laughing is one joyful expression of that mission in action.
