We are thrilled to announce our eye surgery and ocular ultrasound services at the Eye Institute at Kensington Health have received Accreditation Canada certification. This marks a significant milestone in our ongoing mission to deliver exceptional eye care that is safe, accessible, and compassionate.

Accreditation Canada is the national organization that establishes the highest standards of healthcare delivery in Canada. Achieving this certification requires rigorous evaluation of an organization’s operations, including clinical procedures, care processes, patient safety protocols, staff training, and more. The Eye Institute at Kensington Health is among the first specialized eye care facilities in Ontario to undertake this comprehensive process, and is the organization’s first participation in accreditation for our Ambulatory Care Division.

“This is a major accomplishment for our organization, but it signals much more,” says Adil Khalfan, President and CEO at Kensington Health. “This is a testament to the fact that when patients come through our doors, they can be confident they are receiving the highest standard of care.”

The Eye Institute at Kensington Health is one of Canada’s largest speciality eye care facilities, providing comprehensive services, from advanced diagnostic imaging to complex surgical procedures, to thousands of patients every year. Since its inception, the Eye Institute at Kensington Health has been committed to addressing the growing need for accessible and equitable eye care in Ontario, and combines clinical excellence with a strong focus on education, research, and community partnerships.

At Kensington Health, continuous improvement has always been a priority. “We did not approach this as a checklist exercise,” says Khalfan. “It was never about just meeting the standards, but rather exceeding them." Throughout the accreditation process, we focused on finding opportunities to raise the quality of our services and continue to position ourselves as a centre of excellence.
