The weather could not have been better for the bike ride from Toronto to Montreal on August 25 and 26. Together, a group of 19 cyclists known as Équipe '78, rode 520 km and raised over $42,000 to support The Kensington Foundation.
Équipe '78 is a group of cycling enthusiasts from Racer Sportif Cycling Club who wanted to put their healthy peddling power to a good cause. Thanks to generous event sponsors, 100 per cent of donations are going directly to The Kensington Foundation.

“We are thankful Équipe '78 chose to donate to The Kensington Foundation,” said Mark Richardson, Interim CEO of The Kensington Foundation. “The funds raised will go directly to supporting residents who live at the Kensington Hospice. It will also go towards equipment and technology upgrades that will benefit patients receiving cancer screening and diagnostic imaging.”
Peddling for a good cause
“This was a speedy ride that required a rigorous training schedule for participating club members,” said Anthony Monastero, Équipe '78’s Event Director and Lead Sponsor. “Our passion is to cycle, and at the same time, we wanted to give back to the community.”
Racer Sportif Cycling Club is a mainstay in the GTA cycling community. Over the years the Club has grown and expanded so that members now can compete in Road, Track, Cyclocross and Mountain bike events all over North America throughout the year.
Équipe '78 biked from Toronto to Montreal for charity on August 25 & 26, 2017.
Sponsors for this event included: Black Spruce Financial, Racer Sportif Cycling Club, Monacom Productions and RKS Medical Technologies. The sponsors have covered all costs of the ride so 100% of every dollar raised will go directly to The Kensington Foundation.
You can still donate to this charity ride! Please visit: Équipe '78’s website.
