Kensington Eye Institute

The Kensington Eye Institute (KEI) is a state-of-the-art ambulatory eye surgery centre. We make use of the latest in technology to provide world class, individual and timely care to our patients in need of cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery, retina surgery and corneal transplants.

When we opened our doors in January 2006, we were the largest cataract facility in Ontario. KEI has contributed greatly to reduction of cataract surgery wait times throughout the province.

In 2012, KEI expanded its scope of services to include glaucoma surgery, retina surgery and cornea transplants.

In 2013, has undertaken a 3-year pilot project on corneal collagen cross linking.  For more information on this project click on Corneal Collagen Cross Linking Program.

Today, over 50 of Ontario’s most skilled ophthalmic surgeons operate with us, and are dedicated to medical training and research. Over 11,000 surgeries are performed at KEI each year. KEI is proud to be among Canada’s largest ophthalmic teaching facilities, and as an 'Academic Centre of Excellence,'our surgeons provide training for University of Toronto ophthalmology residents - the future eye surgeons of the country.

KEI is a not-for-profit registered charitable organization, licensed under the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care as an Independent Health Facility (IHF).
